I’m ridiculously proud that the Manor House Hotel in Moreton – the little hotel at the other end of the High Street from me, no less – took silver at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards last night, beating some amazing properties including Gidleigh Park in Devon.
Moreton is a proper working town and a great base from which to explore the North Cotswolds, which includes the very pretty and historic settlements of Chipping Campden, Stow on the Wold and Broadway, as well as Batsford Arboretum with its amazing maple collection and a host of little villages with proper pubs! Moreton has a mainline station (it’s on the Paddington to Hereford line) and is equi-distant from the M40, M5 and M4, so it’s easily accessible from every corner of the country.
Moreton doesn’t get enough press, but I’m hoping this fantastic achievement will shine the spotlight on my home town!
