A very Swiss week…

It’s only Tuesday, but I’ve already had a bit of a Swiss week…  On Sunday, I pottered off to the Ricoh Stadium in Coventry for a little bit of Olympic action to watch Switzerland play South Korea in the men’s football.  Sadly the Swiss team lost, but I have to say the atmosphere in the stadium was fantastic – and it was pretty nearly full!  A real family day out, there were lots of kids in the stands, as well as beer-swilling men, but there was absolutely no aggression (as is so often the case at league matches) and everyone seemed to be having a very lovely time.

Here are a couple of pics – you can see from my blurred telephoto image of the teams listening to one of the national anthems that I definitely wasn’t in a corporate seat!!

Tomorrow, 1st August, is Swiss National Day and there are plenty of celebrations planned.

There’ll be a party in Adelboden starting at 8:15pm, organised by the local tourist office, don’t miss the fireworks as they light up the dramatic Alpine scenery!  And while you’re in Adelboden, make sure you get tickets to Circus Monti, in town till Thursday 2nd August.

In St Moritz, the Kulm Hotel is hosting a gala dinner followed by an exclusive Manhatten Transfer concert that is part of the annual Festival da Jazz, which continues till 12th August. Read more about it here.

So, wherever you are tomorrow, 1st August, raise a little glass to the Swiss – Proscht!
